The land proposal offered by the City of St. Martinville has been selected as the future site of the new South Louisiana Community College SLCC Evangeline Campus.
Located near the intersection of Highway 31 and Moore Avenue, just north of St. Martinville, the 36,000 square foot facility is projected to cost $9.2 million and will offer academic and workforce training programs aligned to the region's workforce needs such as business office technology, welding, nurse aide, patient care technician, and practical nursing.
"The citizens of St. Martinville and the surrounding area deserve the opportunity to have access to academic and workforce training programs that will prepare them for tomorrow's workforce," said Dr. Natalie Harder, SLCC chancellor. "We appreciate the collaboration between industry, community, and state leaders on this great investment. We know this new campus will lead to positive outcomes for the people of St. Martinville. "
The Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Facilities Corporation, a private non-profit 501 c (3) organization, upon the recommendation of its Advisory Committee, voted to accept the recommendation on April 17. Three land proposals were being considered.
Final acceptance and approval by the LCTCS Board of Supervisors is contingent upon a 60-day due diligence period. The due diligence period, which is standard procedure, will provide adequate time for the Facilities Corporation and the LCTCS to inspect and test the property and review the land's title.
