A St. Martinville man is in jail tonight for allegedly using counterfeit money at a local fast food chain.
The St. Martinville Police Department arrested Kevin St. Julien, 41, St. Martinville, today for monetary instrument abuse. His arrest was the result of an investigation stemming from a complaint made by the fast food chain on Wednesday.
Both the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office and the St. Martinville Police Department have seen an increase in calls dealing with counterfeit money, according to police.
Local merchants are being asked to pay close attention to the bills they might receive and to report to their local law enforcement agency any incidents where an attempt is made to use counterfeit currency.
St. Julien was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
