On January 11, 2012 Zerben & Ruben Guillory of St. Martinville celebrated their 91st birthday with families and friends. Zerben & Ruben were happy. This was one of the best days of their lives as they told jokes and shared stories.
Zerben & Ruben Guillory were born and raised in St. Martinville. They were born January 11, 1921 to the late Mr. Telmas and Mrs. Victoria Guillory.
Ruben Guillory has 5 children and 12 grandchildren. His wife passed away 3 years ago. Ruben retired with Marcell Fuselier (Contractor). Ruben loves beer and gardening, and often gives his produce away.
Zurben Guillory has five children and 15 grandchildren. His wife passed away 12 years ago. Zurben served in World War II and afterward worked and retired with JB Talley. Zurben loves gin, and in his spare time he enjoys spending time with his horse.
Both continue to drive and drink coffee and visit each other as often as possible. They love to Zydeco dance, dress western style in jeans and black cowboy hats.
For holidays they celebrate dinner with their own families, but at the end of the day they still get the chance to see each other. Ruben & Zurben always celebrated their birthdays together.
Mr. Thomas Nelson, Mayor of St. Martinville, was a special guest at their breakfast. He presented Zerben & Ruben with a key to the city. Mrs. Penny A. Fredricks from Congressman Charles Boustany Junior's office presented them with a Proclamation Letter. They will also receive a Distinguished Citizen's Certificate from the Secretary of State's office and something in writing from President Barack Obama.
