St. Martin sheriff's deputy pleads not guilty in husband's shooting death

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office deputy who allegedly shot and killed her husband at a Breaux Bridge apartment complex while off duty pleaded not guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder.

Chrystal Alexander is accused of shooting and killing her husband, Kendall, in late December.

Alexander was off-duty at the time of the shooting death and was placed on administrative leave following an investigation by State Police.

She was formally charged with second-degree murder in June and terminated from the sheriff's office the same day she was indicted.

Her trial is tentatively set for Nov. 18.
