On January 18, 2013, Deputies with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office visited Westminster Christian Academy Pre-K classes to speak to the children about bullying and safety.

Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena said, "It is so important for us to show these kids that we are their friends. We don't want them to grow up scared of police officers. We want to make sure that they understand we are here to help them and keep them safe."

"Our Motorcycle Division Deputies, Cpl. David Doucet and Cpl. Spencer Cornette took time to show the children their motorcycles and they performed a parade formation routine for them. Captain Cheyne Platte with our Search and Rescue Team was able to bring our rescue boat to the school and allow the children to see it up close," Vizena added.
