The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office marked Veterans Day with a flag-raising ceremony featuring deputies who served in the Armed Forces. The deputies performed a formation salute Sunday morning outside of the parish jail. Captain Derrick Miles, who took part in the ceremony, said, "Not all of the Sheriff's Office Veterans could join us today, but we still wanted to get together and honor our fellow men and women who have served. We are a family." Miles added, "Hopefully next year, we can make this gathering bigger and better."
