St. Landry Parish's DWI Checkpoint

Several DWI arrests were made during a checkpoint Saturday on US Highway 190 in Krotz Springs.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said, “three hundred and fifty (350) vehicles were screened at the checkpoint between 9:00 pm and 2:00 am. Seventeen drivers were given field sobriety tests.” Two DWIs were identified and arrested. Other arrests included one for refusal to submit to sobriety testing, and one for driving under suspension.

Tickets issued for other offenses included:

Ten for not using child restraints

Eight for no seatbelt,

Seven for expired motor vehicle inspection stickers,

Three for license plate illumination

Three for expired vehicle registration,

Two for open container,

Two for driving under suspension,

Two expired registrations,

One for no driver’s license, and

One for failure to change address on license
