A St. Landry Parish teacher was arrested and charged with six counts of "exhibition of material harmful to minors". Deputies say Brandon C. Levier admitted to showing the "R" rated movies to his students. The investigation began when a concerned parent filed a complaint, saying her student told her he was allowed to watch a movie with a naked lady. The student also said they watched several movies showing nudity and profanity. Levier was released from jail on a $6,000 bond. The incident happened in band class Arnaudville Elementary; the movies shown include "Ted" and "The Hangover", and "Think Like A Man".
St. Landry Parish Schools Superintendent Joseph Cassimere says disciplinary action has already been taken against Levier. He could not go into detail about those actions due to personnel privacy laws. Cassimere adds Levier is still employed by the school system.
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said, "Any parent who receives information from their child regarding this type of activity, or if their child was a student of this teacher that viewed any type of R rated movies, are asked to call him direct or Lieutenant Jessie Martin at 337-948-6516."
