St. Landry Parish Student Burned For Wetting Bed

An Opelousas father is accused of putting his child's feet in boiling water.
Opelousas Police say Carey Cortez was upset because the child wet the bed.
The school's principal says the boy arrived this morning walking slowly, saying his feet hurt.
His teacher removed his socks and shoes and found burns and blisters. Those burns were later found to be first and second degree burns.
Carey Cortez was booked into the Opelousas city jail.
Cortez's girlfriend, Annie Smith, was also arrested. Police say she told the child not to mention what happened to school staff.
