On Friday, December 16, 2011, Louisiana State Police will conduct a DWI Checkpoint in St. Landry Parish. The checkpoint will take place from 9:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. Troopers will be looking for impaired drivers as well as aggressive drivers and unrestrained occupants.

Troopers have a zero tolerance for impaired persons found to be operating a motor vehicle. Troopers also remind drivers that impairment is not only caused by alcohol. If a driver is found to be under the influence of certain narcotic medications, illegal substances, or certain over-the-counter medication they too can be arrested for DWI. If you plan to drink make sure you designate a driver.

If you see an aggressive or impaired driver you can report them by calling *LSP (*577) or your local law enforcement agency.
