OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - A jailer with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office has been arrested on a charge of malfeasance after complaints from a female inmate concerning inappropriate behavior.

Deputies say 61-year-old Charles Ray Mistric of Port Barre was arrested on the charge Monday after resigning on Sunday.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz tells The Daily World the complaint from the female inmate was investigated by detectives and found to have merit, leading to Mistric's resignation.

It wasn't immediately clear if Mistric has an attorney.
