St. Landry- On October 22, agents with Louisiana State Police Region II Criminal Investigation Division arrested a St. Landry man and his girlfriend for charges of obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud.
In October 2009, agents began an investigation on thirty-one-year-old Devin Acaldo and his girlfriend twenty-nine-year-old Stephanie Campbell. During the investigation, agents learned that Mr. Acaldo and Ms. Campbell were obtaining the same prescription medication from a doctor in St. Landry Parish, and a doctor in Bossier Parish at the same time. Their investigation indicated that Acaldo and Campbell had been receiving the medication for approximately one year.
On October 22, 2009, agents served an arrest warrant on both Mr. Acaldo and Ms. Campbell. Mr. Acaldo was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on 14 counts of obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud in Bossier Parish. Ms. Campbell was also booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on 13 counts of obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud in Bossier Parish.
At the time of the arrest Mr. Acaldo was employed by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, and was at work when he was arrested. The investigation is on going and additional charges are expected in St. Landry Parish.
