The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office seized approximately $40,000 worth of synthetic marijuana Wednesday as a result of a traffic stop near Lawtell.
The bust, according to sheriff's spokesperson Capt. Megan Vizena, included the arrest of two unnamed individuals and is part of an ongoing operation by the department's Highway Interdiction Team to remove synthetic marijuana from the streets of St. Landry Parish. Vizena told KATC that "the total weight of the seizure is approximately 21.5 pounds."
"Our Highway Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria on Highway 190 near Lawtell. The search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of approximately 968 ten gram packets of 9 different types of synthetic marijuana."
"This investigation is still ongoing, therefore, the names of the suspects are being with held at this time," Vizena added.
