St. Helena Parish voters will consider four parish-wide propositions on the May 4 ballot.
The Advocate reports the two taxes up for rededication are a 5-mill property tax that supports a now-defunct parish Health Unit and one-half of one percent of the proceeds of a one-cent sales tax that funds the parish's solid waste collection and disposal services.
Bond attorney Alan Offner said the Police Jury wants to rededicate that portion of the sales tax to road improvements.
The Health Unit millage, if voters agree to its rededication, is expected to generate $227,500 a year for parish road and bridge maintenance.
The parish's voters also will be asked to renew two existing millages supporting Hospital Service District No. 1.
