On November 5, 2009, at approximately 8:50 am, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a shooting that occurred at a residence in the 300 block of St. Charles Street. The victim, a 29 year old male of Lafayette, was involved in a verbal argument with his 18 year old nephew. The argument turned physical in the residence and both parties exited to the front yard. The suspect, Drew Johnson (18) of Lafayette, walked over to a vehicle stopped on the street and retrieved a handgun. At this point the victim retreated to the interior of the residence, at which time he heard three shots ring out. When the victim exited out of the residence again the suspect had fled the area. The victim was not injured.
Drew Johnson was later arrested on an arrest warrant for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The case remains under investigation.
