CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - The St. Bernard Parish port is getting
more money to rebuild from Hurricane Katrina.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is giving the St. Bernard Parish Port Harbor and Terminal District about $1.9 million to repair office spaces in a warehouse. FEMA has given the port $12.4 million so far.
The port's warehouse offices were flooded by five feet of water after Katrina.
The port is an unloading site for oceangoing vessels hauling such freight as metallic ores and minerals, ferro alloys, petroleum coke, zinc concentrates, fertilizers and steel.
