Every year there are dozens of families questioning how they will put food on the table, especially around the holidays.
One Acadiana group is working to ease the holiday stress; the social group Unjudgeable Divas and Gents spent Sunday afternoon handing out more than a half dozen thanksgiving baskets making sure everyone will have a hot meal this season.
"It's hard right now, people are struggling. You don't know what the next man is going through and that's what we do, we give back," said Elizabeth Griffin.
In all they handed out seven baskets complete with all the trimmings including a ham and turkey. For Julia Randall, the holidays mean a lot.
"All families get together and appreciate one another."
This gift will take away a bit of the holiday stress and without it Randall says she isn't sure her family would be celebrating.
"I don't have to worry about where I'm going to find this or that now. I'm going to be here at home and doing it."
At each stop a similar, surprised response filled with gratitude.
"They bring tears and when we see tears, it's tears of joy knowing we're helping someone in need," said Nicole Mouton.
A real spirit of thanks this Thanksgiving.
