Speed A Factor in Livingston Parish Fatal Crash

Just before 1:30 this morning, Louisiana State Troopers began investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred on LA Hwy 16 south of LA Hwy 1028 in Livingston Parish.

Troopers discovered 22 year old Cameron G. Bordelon of Baton Rouge, was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla northbound on LA Hwy 16 when the crash occurred. Bordelon, for unknown reasons, began to drift off the roadway to the left towards the raised center concrete median. He then overcorrected to the right and the vehicle exited the roadway to the right. The Corolla overturned and struck a tree. After striking the tree the Toyota continued rolling down an embankment into a canal.

Bordelon was unrestrained at the time of the crash, and was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries as a result.

A 16 year old male was restrained in the front passenger seat. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.

Driver impairment is unknown at this time; however, a toxicology sample was taken from Bordelon and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

Excessive speed is considered to have been a factor in the crash.
