LAFAYETTE, La. - The first-ever black Ragin' Cajuns football jerseys that were worn in the 31-27 comeback win over Western Kentucky last Saturday will be auctioned off starting at midnight Thursday, the Ragin' Cajuns Athletic Department announced Wednesday.
Over the next six weeks the jerseys will be auctioned off in six groups. Each auction will last one week with bidding closing at noon on Thursday.
Fans interested in placing a bid on a jersey can do so by clicking here to go to the auction web page. Follow the instructions on the page to successfully cast your bid.
Bidding price starts at $300 with the highest bidder winning each auction. A $15.95 shipping and handling fee, for each jersey purchased, will be assessed.
The jerseys featured four Cajun French words to represent important values of the Ragin' Cajuns football squad. Unité which means unity, croire which means believe, fierté which means pride and combattre which means fight.
Another new feature on the black uniform is the oversized fleur de lis on the front in place of numerals.
The jersey would make a great Christmas gift idea, or is a wonderful deal for anyone looking to show their Louisiana fierté. For those interested in purchasing a jersey in time for Christmas it is recommended to bid early.
In addition to the jersey action, fans looking for a great Christmas gift can purchase "It's Only The Beginning" a commemorative DVD highlighting the Ragin' Cajuns 2011 season and trip to the New Orleans Bowl at the new discounted price of $19.95.
The DVD can be purchased at any athletic event, the UL Bookstore or online at RaginCajuns.com by clicking here.
