NEW ORLEANS (AP) Southern Republican activists are wrapping up their three-day conference with a so-called straw poll on who should be the party's 2012 nominee.
Several potential candidates addressed the Southern Republican Leadership Conference.
On tap for speeches Saturday were former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, Indiana Rep. Mike Pence, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and Texas Rep. Ron Paul.
After the speeches, the 3,000-plus conference attendees cast their ballots.
Don't look for any great revelations. Traditionally, these straw polls say little about the eventual outcome.
