Southern Garden Festival Benefits Homeless Acadiana

LAFAYETTE, La. - Every spring since 2006, Harold and Sarah Schoeffler's beautiful gardens are transformed for a weekend to host the Southern Garden Festival. A dinner and silent auction, artist exhibitions and demonstrations, bayou boat tours, Master Gardener presentations and garden tours are among the numerous activities scheduled to take place April 12-14, at 3502 E. Simcoe Street, Lafayette, La.

Now in its seventh year, Southern Garden Festival has grown along the way, and the expanded activities list prompted a name change to Southern Garden Festival (it was formerly known as Tour My Southern Garden). The main goal, however, has always remained the same: to raise awareness and funds for Family Promise of Acadiana, a local nonprofit organization that helps homeless families achieve and sustain long-term independence. It's Acadiana's only shelter accepting teen boys and fathers as part of a family unit.
