The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) issued the following statement regarding partial restoration of SNAP EBT card transactions on Saturday, October 12, 2013:
The contractor that maintains SNAP EBT services for the state of Louisiana has informed DCFS that some store systems that handle EBT transactions have returned to service. The contractor expects additional stores to do the same in the next few hours. The multi-state system outage began at approximately 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12.
Meantime, DCFS vigorously investigates anyone suspected of fraudulently claiming public assistance benefits. Individuals are encouraged to report cases of suspected SNAP fraud by calling the DCFS toll-free hotline at 1-888-LAHELP-U and selecting option 7 from the main menu or by visiting www.dcfs.la.gov/ReportFraud.
