RICHWOOD, La. (AP) - Several Richwood Board of Aldermen members are upset that Mayor Steve Hunter bought a $3,500 truck after the board asked him to wait until they could review finances.
The News Star says town officials confirmed the purchase of the truck Monday.
The board recently voted unanimously to table the purchase so aldermen could check the town's transportation fund. Alderman Wysinger Cleveland says the mayor has shown he will do whatever he wants, regardless of how the aldermen vote.
Public works director Marshall Frazier told the board that his department has a 1998 van and a 1994 truck to maintain and clean streets, and the van was on its last legs.
Alderwoman Leola Keyes said the transportation fund held nearly $60,000 after the truck was bought.
