Social Media Could Help Capture Serial Bank Robber

UPDATE: Police Chief K.P. Gibson says they did speak Sunday afternoon with FBI agents out of Norman, Oklahoma. Gibson says "we're gonna be working with them they have a little bit more information than we've have in the three robberies that have occurred in southwest Louisiana. We're gonna work with them they have a bit of a vehicle description and they're trying to work on that."

Witnesses in Oklahoma say the robber escaped in a gold or beige 4-door vehicle with a sunroof and rear spoiler.

If you have any information about the robberies, call Acadia Crimestoppers at 789-tips.

The widespread power and use of social media might just help nab a serial bank robber.

Facebook sites from three different television markets... Lafayette, Lake Charles, and Sherman, Texas are posting about a bank robber that appears to be the same man. With about 500 miles in between, the likely hood that connections could be made used to be slim, but Facebook is creating new links that bridge the distance.

Posted July 8, 2010Crowley Police are investigating an early morning attempted robbery which occurred at First National Bank in the 100 block of North Parkerson Ave.

Officers responded to the bank at 9:37 am. The investigation at this point indicates that a white male subject entered the bank and approached a teller. The suspect then presented the teller with a note demanding money. During the time of the exchange of the note, the suspect fled the scene without obtaining any currency. The suspect fled on foot and it is believed that he entered a vehicle to flee the area. No vehicle has been identified as part of this investigation.

"This suspect has been confirmed to have been involved in 2 additional robberies. Sulphur Police are investigating a robbery which occurred on Monday, April 26 and Rayne Police are investigating a robbery which occurred 30 minutes after our robbery this morning," stated Chief K.P. Gibson.

"We have compared security video and have confirmed that the suspect involved in our robbery this morning is the same suspect involved the Sulphur robbery and the Rayne robbery. All agencies will work with one another on these investigations. Judging by the cities which are being targeted, we believe that our suspect possibly lives somewhere along I-10 in the southwest part of the state," stated Chief Gibson.

The suspect is described as a white, male, believed to be in his 40's. He has short hair with a medium build. He is wearing a dark color hat which is believed to have the Miami Heat team logo on it. The suspect was also wearing sunglasses, with a dark colored shirt and cargo type khaki shorts.
