Snow blanketed parts of Acadiana Friday morning. One area seeing the flurries was Opelousas.

Snow twice in one winter is a never-before-seen occurrence for the locals, who were excited when they awoke to see the big snowflakes falling.

"I look at the door and I was like, snow! I started calling everybody," says Beverly Tezeno.

"The last time it snowed I was a kid in kindergarten. I think it's great it's been snowing a lot lately," says Ian Bordeloin.

Some students from Opelousas Catholic school spent their day off having snowball fights.

One of the children, Leigh-Ann Hebert, says this is their way of starting the party: "It's gonna be 3-day Mardi Gras break."
