SMSO seeks public's assistance identifying an armed robbery suspect

St. Mary Sheriff's detectives are searching for a suspect that attempted to rob the Quick General Store in Amelia. The unidentified suspect was captured on video surveillance footage. The incident occurred at 9:41am on Tuesday, July 3, 2012. The suspect was wearing a royal blue sweatshirt and a blue ski mask.
The suspect pointed the a silver hand gun at the clerk, and escorted her from the rear of the store to the front
where she was able to lock herself in an office. As a result, the suspect left empty handed.
The suspect is believed to be a black male and about 5'10'' with a medium build. Anyone with information about the suspect should contact the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office at 985-384-1622.
