SMPSS Acts to Recover Lost Instructional Time

Beginning Tuesday January 22, 2013 through Friday, April 5, 2013, closing bells in all St. Mary Parish schools will ring fifteen minutes later. This minor addition will help to ensure that students in St. Mary Parish regain valuable instructional time lost due to school closures on January 9-10, 2013.
The 49-day 15 minute extension to the end of the school day will recoup a total of 735 minutes prior to Phase II accountability testing beginning on Monday, April 8, 2013. This adjustment recoups lost instructional time without adding instructional days to the school calendar.
