SMPSO Daily Arrest Report

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 120 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Jose Sanchez, 17, 137 John Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 16, 2014 at 5:24 pm for theft of goods, resisting an officer (giving false information), and possession of alcohol by a person under 21 year of age.

Blaise Lott, 17, 115 Oak Drive, Centerville, LA was arrested on May 16, 2014 at 5:24 pm for theft of goods, resisting an officer (giving false information), and possession of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age.

A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Sanchez and Lott were seen taking items including an alcoholic beverage and concealing them in a backpack that was also taken from inside the store. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking. Sanchez was released on a $1,750 bond and Lott was released on a recognizance bond.

Kevin Koczen, 23, 147 Moon Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 17, 2014 at 3:04 am for disturbing the peace and possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. A deputy responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked at a business on Highway 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy located a subject sleeping inside a pick-up truck. The subject was identified as Koczen. During the course of the investigation, the deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located an open container of alcohol. Koczen was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was later released on a $1,000 bond.

Dylan Freyou, 21, 205 Fontelieu Drive, New Iberia, LA was arrested on May 17, 2014 at 6:22 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension. Freyou turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville after learning of the warrant for his arrest. Freyou was released on a $5,000 bond.

James E. Franks, 60, 518 Prairie Road North, Centerville, LA was arrested on May 17, 2014 at 10:10 am for general speed law violation and possession of Schedule I drugs. A deputy patrolling the Centerville area observed a vehicle swerving off the roadway and travelling at a high rate of speed on Prairie Road North. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. During the course of the investigation, the deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a green leafy substance scattered inside the vehicle and a piece of a burnt cigar containing suspected illegal narcotics. Franks was released on a summons to appear in court on August 22, 2014.

Juvenile male, 14, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 17, 2014 at 6:41 pm for unauthorized use of an access card as theft, simple criminal damage to property, theft, and simple battery. A deputy investigating a complaint of a theft learned that the juvenile took a credit card from a victim and used it online and at a local store. Later in the day, during an argument, the juvenile struck a female victim. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

Centrell Howard, 1016 Cypremort Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 17, 2014 at 10:48 pm on a warrant for resisting an officer. A deputy who knew that Howard was wanted on the active warrant saw Howard in a vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 90 in the Franklin area. The deputy transported Howard to the parish jail for booking. Howard was later released on a $1,000 bond.

Hector Munoz-Serrano, 62, 124 First Street, Gibson, LA was arrested on May 17, 2014 at 11:03 pm for reckless operation of a vehicle, possession of open alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents. A deputy responded to a report of a traffic incident on Highway 182 in the Amelia area. Upon arrival, the deputy located a vehicle with one of the tires on top of a curb. The deputy made contact with the driver and requested the he provide an identification card. Munoz-Serrano presented the deputy with a fake Louisiana ID. Upon further investigation, two opened containers of alcohol were located in the vehicle. Munoz-Serrano was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Ciro Perez Mayorga, 39, 722 Clarke Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 18, 2014 at 1:25 am for driving while intoxicated, careless operation, hit and run driving, and no drivers license on person. A deputy responded to a report of a hit and run incident. The deputy learned from witnesses that Mayorga side swiped another vehicle while travelling in a vehicle on Southeast Boulevard. The deputy made contact with Mayorga at his residence on Clarke Road and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath and person. The deputy conducted a field sobriety test on which Mayorga performed poorly. Mayorga later registered a 0.171g% blood alcohol concentration on the breath test. The deputy transported Mayorga to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Iris Lopez, 19, 125 Village Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on May 18, 2014 at 4:19 am for disturbing the peace. A deputy responded to a complaint of loud music coming from a residence on Village Lane. Upon arrival, the deputy heard loud music coming from the residence. Previously that night, deputies had responded to another complaint of loud music coming from the same address and had advised Lopez to turn the music down. The deputy again made contact with Lopez who was arrested on the charge listed above and released on a summons to appear to in court on August 22, 2014.

James Jones, 28, 1409 First Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on May 18, 2014 at 6:12 am on the following charges:
- Resisting an officer with force
- Domestic abuse battery
- Simple criminal damage to property
- Unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling
- Warrant for probation violation

Monica Hebert, 25, 103 3 B's Lane #13, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 18, 2014 at 6:12 am on the following charges:
- Disturbing the peace
- Aggravated battery
- Resisting an officer with force
- Domestic abuse battery

A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a motel on Highway 90 in Bayou Vista. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Jones and Hebert were involved in a physical altercation with each other. During the fight, Hebert struck Jones with a phone. Following the altercation, Jones kicked a door of one of the rooms of the motel and broke a window. While being detained, Jones attempted to pull away from the deputy. During Hebert's arrest, she attempted to pull away from the deputy. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Shantell N. Soto, 26, 539 Arcemont Lane, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 18, 2014 at 3:10 pm for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Soto was seen on video surveillance attempting to steal shoes. Soto was released on a summons to appear in court on August 22, 2014.

Moses Marks, Jr., 53, 338 Sorrell Railroad Road, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on May 19, 2014 at 1:51 am for violating the maximum speed limit law, resisting an officer by providing false information, driving under suspension, and resisting an officer with force. A deputy patrolling the Four Corners area observed a vehicle speeding on Big Four Corners Road and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle who gave a false name to the deputy and was unable to provide a drivers license. While being detained, the driver attempted to pull away from the deputy. During the course of the investigation, the deputy identified the driver as Marks. The deputy transported Marks to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
