A Louisiana teen is making it big on the national television show American Idol. And though he's thousands of miles from home, Joshua Ledet's friends and family are showing him support in a big way by holding a watch party every week at Westlake's Recreation Center.

"I'm not surprised that he's here where he's at, but I'm very excited for him," said older brother Jason Ledet.

Jason said since they were young, his family has always known Joshua would go far. Now they're trying to get the rest of Louisiana involved in propelling him either farther.

"The joy around the area has spread like wild fire, he has a lot of supporters here in the area, a lot of people are very happy for him," said cousin Brandon Ledet.

And those friends and family show their support with "Team Joshua" tee-shirts, watch parties and dozens of signs all around their small home town.

Even as a top ten finalist on American Idol, his family said Joshua has never lost his cajun roots.

"I think he's representing very well. If you pay attention to Joshua he displays great humility. And if you see him when you're out there he's the same exact person, he doesn't change, it doesn't get to his head," said Jason.
