SLPSO Offer Halloween Safety Tips

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office wants everyone to have a fun and safe Halloween. Below are a few things you can do to keep you and your family safe.

"In St. Landry Parish, there are approximately 166 registered sex offenders. Before you bring your children out for Halloween, we have made it easy for you to see exactly where these offenders live," says Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said.

St. Landry residents are encouraged to visit www.slpsheriff.com to see who the registered sex offenders are and where they are living.

"Our investigators work very hard at making sure these offenders live where they tell us they are living. All you have to do is go to our website and find "Sex Offender Registry." You can enter an address and it will map out exactly where an offender lives near you," says Sheriff Guidroz.

You will also find many other beneficial tools such as the ability to sign up for FREE automatic email notifications informing you if an offender moves within a specified radius of any address you register.

"We want to remind our drivers to slow down and be especially cautious in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways," added Sheriff Guidroz
