NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A Slidell man has been sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting a postal worker.

A federal judge in New Orleans also on Wednesday sentenced 28-year-old Tracy Tardiff to three years of supervised release following his prison term.

Federal prosecutors say the postal worker was delivering mail in Slidell on Oct. 21, 2010, when he saw Tardiff chase after a woman

When the letter carrier tried to intervene, Tardiff punched him in the neck and fled. The postal worker didn't need any medical treatment.

Tardiff pleaded guilty in the case last year.
