COVINGTON, La. (AP) - A Slidell-area man who last month pleaded guilty in the middle of his first-degree murder trial to bludgeoning his parents to death has been sentenced to life in prison.
State District Judge Raymond Childress sentenced 26-year-old John Claiborn Willis on Wednesday.
Willis was accused of beating his parents, Lewis and Helen Willis, to death with a blunt object - possibly a hammer - on Nov. 15, 2011.
Authorities said they had asked Willis to take on more adult responsibilities, including household chores.
