ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - A 19-year-old man accused of killing
another Alexandria resident last year has pleaded guilty to
manslaughter before his trial was scheduled to begin.
Launey Johnson of Alexandria was facing a second-degree murder
charge and two counts of attempted second-degree murder before
prosecutors accepted a plea on the lesser charge on Monday.
Judge Thomas Yeager sentenced Johnson to 20 years in prison at
William King was shot in the head on Aug.
25, 2009, after an argument.
Witnesses told police that Johnson pointed a shotgun at King and
pulled the trigger and then chased two more people before the gun
jammed and Johnson was unable to fire.
