The Asean Foundation is holding Shreveport's Diwali (dee-WAH-lee) celebration on Saturday, the first day of the five-day festival of lights.
The park has 16 small gardens, each representing an Asian country or an aspect of Asian culture. Street food from many Asian countries will be sold there from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with music from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Afternoon performances of Indian dances will be followed by an Indian dinner for $15, and fireworks starting about 8 p.m.
