SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Shreveport Police have cited a patrol officer with one count of hit-and-run involving a department-issued police car.
Crash investigators began an inquiry after an officer noticed damage to the car's front driver's side door and fender. During the probe, police spokesman Sgt. Bill Goodin says investigators learned that Officer Brenda Disotell was the last person assigned to the car before any damage was noticed.
Based on her statements and other evidence uncovered during the inquiry, Goodin says investigators believe she was responsible.
Disotell, who has served on the force since February 2009, was issued a traffic citation earlier this week.
Police Chief Willie Shaw has also ordered an administrative investigation into the alleged incident to see whether any department policies were violated.
