SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - The Shreveport-Bossier City area is among
12 communities across the United States piloting a volunteer
program for people with early stage Alzheimer's disease.
The Alzheimer's Association is testing the Community Connections
program with the aim of helping early-stage Alzheimer's patients
regain or maintain engagement in their communities, according to
The Times of Shreveport.
Volunteer opportunities in Shreveport and Bossier City will
include community gardening, helping animals, helping senior
citizens and working in a food bank or soup kitchen. Participants
must be diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer's disease and must be
willing to complete the entire program, which runs from mid-June
through September.
