SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Improvements to the Shreveport Regional and Downtown airports are under way.
The eight ongoing projects are being funded by the Federal Aviation Administration and the state. The work mostly involves renovations.
The work includes construction on Shreveport Regional's crosswind runway, the airport's smaller runway used as an alternative to the main runway dependent on weather. The nearly $4 million project is expected to take five months. Renovating the runway will require tearing it apart and rebuilding it. It will be the first renovations to that runway since it was built more than 15 years ago.
Along with renovation projects, the airport authority has received funding to revise its master plan, which is used to forecast and prepare for growth over coming years.
