Clouds have been building all day Wednesday with rain creeping in from the west. The rain will continue into early Wednesday morning with the passage of our next weather system.
Nothing is shaping up to give us any severe weather, but you can expect to hear some rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning around midnight. When all is said and done we are looking at just under two inches of rainfall here in Lafayette.
Because this system is so quick moving, however, we don't anticipate any flooding. There may be some very localized flooding close to ponds and on some of the streets, but nothing like what we were dealing with last month.
You can expect the rain to more or less be cleared out by mid-morning on Thursday, and we will get a brief break from the rain headed into the weekend. The Mardi Gras forecast is still looking rather unsettled and we do expect rain on Fat Tuesday, but there are some major timing issues with this system.
