In Colorado, Lawmakers are thinking about becoming automatic organ donation state. This means everyone in the state will automatically get have their organs donated when they die if they don't opt out.
Suzanna Morton with Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency believes the proposal is not necessary for the state. "Why change something that's successful? One point nine million people are registered, that's a lot of people," said Morton.
Reecie Fruge donated her two year old son's (Clint)eye tissues two years ago when drowned. She says even though her son is gone, his legacy will live through the people who is benefiting from his tissue. One of Clint's recipients is an elderly man."It was very inspirational because it made me realize Clint still lives with him, and there's not a day that goes by he doesn't look at the world through a two year old eyes."
Fruge also believes Louisiana should not become and automatic organ donation state because organ donating is a gift from the heart.
