Shootout near LSU leaves 1 man injured

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police said a man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a shootout near the LSU campus.

Police tell WAFB TV the shooting happened near the Edward Gay Apartments early Friday morning.

The man who was shot was identified as 23-year-old Adonis Forbes. Investigators said they believe he and another man fired shots at one another and Forbes was hit.

LSU police sent an alert to students around 12:30 a.m. warning them there were reports of shots fired near the apartment complex, which is just off campus.

Students were advised to find a safe and secure place to take shelter if they were in the area.
