Lafayette Police are looking for a shooting suspect. Police say they responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Wilkins street on March 15, 2013, at approximately 11:30 pm. According to witnesses, the victim was inside of a residence when he answered a knock at the door. When the victim opened the door, the suspect shot the victim once in the chest with a pistol. The suspect, only described as a black male, fled the area on foot. The victim, a 23 year old male of Lafayette, was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Police were able to recover a weapon near the residence. The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
Detectives are asking anyone with any information about the shooting or the identity of the suspect to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
