A shooting in the 400 block of Cora St. has left a 20 year old male dead. The shooting happened around 7:15 Monday evening right next to the MLK Community Center. There was a ceremony honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr happening at that time.

Police were in the area helping at the MLK event when they heard a gunshot. Officers arrived at the scene to find the victim collapsed on the ground. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police detained an individual who was running from the scene for questioning, and are also interviewing witnesses.

Police say the shooting had nothing to do with the MLK event. People attending the event didn't hear any gunshots and didn't know about the shooting until it ended around 9 p.m.
