The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office and the mother of Javon Rakestrau have agreed to settle a federal wrongful death lawsuit.
Rakestrau died in October 2010 after being shocked with a stun gun by a sheriff's deputy. The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office released the dash cam video and said that footage proved the deputy followed protocol.
The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed. Judge Patrick Hannah gave the parties until August 10 to finalize the terms of the settlement.
