Sheriff: Park ranger accidentally shot own leg

BENTON, La. (AP) - Bossier Parish Sheriff Larry Deen says a parish park ranger is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the leg, causing a severe injury.
He said Monday that Dan Wolfe is on administrative leave with pay while the sheriff's office makes a routine investigation.
Wolfe works at Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Park in Benton. Deen says Wolfe's gun went off by accident Sunday at the park.
Deputies are investigating because rangers at the park are law enforcement officers commissioned through the sheriff's office.
