Sheriff: 3 masked men bound 68yo, stole safe

BENTON, La. (AP) Bossier Parish Sheriff Larry Deen says three ski-masked men bound a 68-year-old woman with duct tape, demanded to know where her safe was, and stole the safe and some jewelry.

Deen says deputies have arrested 35-year-old Ricardo Aleman Palos of Springdale, Ark., and 26-year-old Gerardo Cortina, of Elgin, Ill. They were booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility on charges of aggravated burglary, false imprisonment and simple battery of the infirmed. No bond has been set.

A third suspect is being sought.

The incident began early Thursday when the woman says she was awakened by her barking dog and confronted by three masked men. After taping her ankles, wrists and mouth, the men rummaged through the home, found her safe and took it and some jewelry before fleeing.

The woman was able to free herself and call deputies. She suffered minor injuries.
