LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A settlement with the Justice Department calls for McNeese State University to improve access to its Lake Charles campus for disabled students, employees and visitors. The settlement announced Thursday resolves an investigation the Justice Department launched in 2008 to review the school's compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Justice Department says it launched the probe after Louisiana's attorney general's office took the position that McNeese State wasn't required to have a handicapped accessible restroom in a student union building.
