A Lafayette teen faces a judge today after several filed motions in the past few months. 18-year-old Seth Fontenot will have his pre-trial hearing today. Fontenot is accused of killing 15-year-old Austin Rivault and injuring two other teens after shooting at their vehicle.
He's facing charges of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder. Today both sides of the case will have their chance to present motions. One of the requests has already sparked a series of filings back and forth. The defense wants to present surveillance video from Lourdes Hospital the night Austin was killed.
The pre-trial is set for today at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse at 8:30 this morning, because prosecutors have taken the death penalty off the table, Fontenot will face a life sentence if convicted.
