Lafayette teen Seth Fontenot is charged with first-degree murder in the February shooting death of 15-year-old Austin Rivault but there are pretrial issues that have to be dealt with before Fontenot's trial can begin.
According to court officials, the hearing for several motions this morning, includes a request by Fontenot's attorneys to delay the trial for a third time.
According to Guilbeau, they have not had sufficient time for The Louisiana Supreme Court to review the facts surrounding Fontenot's confession to Lafayette Police Detectives in the hours after the shootings. In another filing, Fontenot is still negotiating with the public defenders office for money to pay for investigators and expert witnesses for the trial.
Fontenot is also charged with attempted first-degree murder of two other teens in connection with the same shooting.
The hearing is scheduled for today at 9a.m.
