MONROE, La. (AP) - Sentencing is scheduled Tuesday afternoon for former Ouachita Parish Sheriff Royce Toney, who pleaded guilty to nine misdemeanors in a plea deal.
Federal prosecutors dropped felony charges against Toney in exchange for his guilty plea Aug. 2 to counts involving unauthorized access of a protected computer.
Each count carries a maximum of a year in prison, a $100,000 fine and supervised release for a year.
As part of the plea agreement, Toney cannot work for any law enforcement agency in Louisiana.
