THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - The last sentences have been handed down in a case resulting from the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy in Raceland in January.

Jamonta Miles was shot on Jan. 2 as he and six other teenagers drove through Raceland. Police said the group was terrorizing the man who fired the shot. Detectives concluded the shooting was self-defense.

On Monday, a judge found two 18-year-olds from Thibodaux guilty of simple assault. Donovan McPherson was sentenced to nine days in jail, while Devonte Robertson was sentenced to 29 days. Both were released because they had served the time while awaiting trial.

The outcome was similar for four other teens who entered pleas in the case and were released after being sentenced to time already served.
